\n\tNature\n\t<\/h2>\n\tRough, pristine and breathtaking. The national park Cevennes is one of the largest in France and at the same time very sparsely populated. The C\u00e9vennes have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011.
\nMountains and valleys alternate with high plains. Birds of prey circle high in the sky. Besides forests, you can also see the terraces on which small farmers grow their crops.
\nThe mountains, picturesque villages and winding rivers provide the perfect backdrop for a relaxing or active stay.\nStarry, starry sky…
\n<\/strong>The Cevennes are great for stargazing. We have hardly any air pollution and skies are very clear. That’s why in 2018 the national park was rewarded with the exclusive international label ‘Dark Sky Preserve’ . Only 12 other parks worldwide have such a label. The Cevennes is the largest area in Europe with this quality mark.\n

\n\tActive\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

Around Saint-Jean-du-Gard you can burn off your energy or satisfy your longing for adventure in many different ways! The surrounding area is perfect for cycling, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking and swimming. You can tour around for hours without encountering an oncoming car. And you can hike to the most beautiful places on earth with breathtaking views.<\/p>\n

For example, walk part of the Stevenson Route with a donkey. Or climb Mont Aigoual on your road bike.<\/p>\n

There are also several adventure parks in the area. One even within walking distance of Mas Mialou, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, where you climb and slide through the trees above the winding river. An exciting and active adventure for young and old.<\/p>\n

For the water rats among us, the Gardon offers the most idyllic and untouched swimming spots.<\/p>\n

\n\tCulture\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

Culture lovers can indulge themselves here. You see and feel the – sometimes cruel – history of the Cevennes all around you. There are many beautiful, ancient villages and towns, museums, caves, village f\u00eates, markets and much, much more.<\/p>\n

Experience the history of the Cevennes at La Maison Rouge, the last textile mill in our village, now transformed into a wonderful museum. Imagine yourself in the jungle in the Bambouseraie or explore the region with the tourist steam train.<\/p>\n

All ingredients to delight your palate can be found here. Have a restaurant cook for you or be your own chef with the fresh and local products from the market. Sip your coffee on a terrace or go taste the region’s excellent wines at a wine estate.<\/p>\n
